BMX Grips

1.  All the best BMX grips (the grips we sell) come with a pair of handlebar ends included. This is crucial to keep you and your bike safe from damage. While most BMX grips come with rubber bar ends, the popular Odyssey BMX grips come with aftermarket Par Endswhich are tougher.
   
2. All BMX grip replacements come in a pair of grips. Even if you wear out one side faster than the other, you'll get 2 grips when ordering.
3. BMX bike grips come in different lengths and thicknesses which can affect the way they feel. Firstly, all BMX grips fit a handlebar with a 22.2mm (7/8") diameter. If you have smaller hands or like to have your hands wrap around the grip more, then go for a smaller diameter grip like the Eclat Bruno Hoffmann grips. If you prefer more cushion, S&M Bikes Hoder grips might be for you. The length of your next BMX grip choice can mean they run down the curve of your handlebars, or not be long enough, so make your choice wisely. If they're too long though, don't worry - you can always easily trim grips to your desired length with scissors.
4. There are two types of standard BMX grips; flangeless BMX grips and flanged BMX grips. The 'Flange' refers to extended edge at one end of the grip. These are used to protect your hands and thumb from brake levers. This doesn't mean that if you use brakes, you need to use flanged grips, and vice versa. If you like the way a flangeless or flanged grip looks, that's cool and part of what can make your bike and style unique!
5. On the subject of types of grips, we also stock lock on BMX grips. The benefit of lock on grips is that they are easier to install and remove, thanks to the collars that are tightened down onto your handlebars with allen keys. Lock on grips also stop rain and dirt from getting under your grips, which stops dreaded 'throttle grip' - where your grips no longer stay in place. Lock on BMX grips are used by BMX racers due to all weather use, but can be used by freestyle riders also. The downside of lock on grips can be the shorter length and not feeling as soft on non-gloved hands.
6. Feel like you're slipping, no matter what grip you ride? We're all different and some riders sweat more than others. We recommend trying a set of grips that use a multi-directional pattern first, but you might want to try a set of BMX gloves to make slippery grips a thing of the past.
7. Grips wear out! Depending on how hard you hold on, how much you ride and even the weather will determine how long your grips last. Many companies are coming out with really soft and comfortable BMX grips that still last a good amount of time, but expect to replace your grips every 1 to 4 months so they still do their job well.
